Creative Education: Effective Ways to Teach ChildrenIt is not a very challenging mission to teach a child something new; the real educational accomplishment an instructor should offer children lies in developing a sense of curiosity, passion for learning, and hunger for information. It is challenging to think outside of the box, to quit the classic teaching methods and implement new, creative, and psychologically proven efficient teaching techniques. To stop limiting education to classrooms and urge children to start learning by themselves, enrich their capacities, refine their talents, and develop their soft skills.
In this article, we will explore new creative ways by which instructors may have the full attention of children to create an educational productive connection and assist them in growing knowledge and developing critical thinking.
First of all, a teacher has to be open to new ideas; to be constantly on the search for new ways and techniques to teach their students. Some ideas may seem strange at the beginning but it’s all about what the children are comfortable doing; if a child feels comfortable, he will certainly learn. A teacher has to keep in mind that the goal is having relaxed children because, in the learning process, stress is the enemy. In this context, as I mentioned in the beginning of this article, instructors and teachers have to quit the traditional strict classrooms. Of course, it will always be necessary to implement discipline within a learning environment but this should never be at the expense of children’s comfort. Instead, communication plays a major role when it comes to this as teachers have to find a way to communicate with their pupils and teach them what’s right or wrong.
Excitement is a powerful element in the teaching process; when children are excited, they are more interested and when they are more interested, they are more involved and committed, and when they are more involved and committed, they learn better. Teachers should always be looking for ideas and activities that will get their pupils excited in order to create a motivating environment where children are interested and committed to what their instructors are offering.
Teachers should also know their pupils one by one; follow each one of them and try to evaluate them separately. This way, it will allow teachers to show their pupils they care in learning more about them and help them evolve. It will also make it easier for teachers to discover talents and ideas in some of their pupils so that they can develop them or notify the parents to follow what their kids are good at.
Teachers should love what they are doing because dealing with children can be very challenging and only passionate teachers will make the learning experience successful for children. It’s very important for teachers to be the best models they can be for their pupils. Children tend to follow grownups and a teacher has to make sure that their pupils are following a creative, smart, and interesting personality.
As a teacher, it will be brilliant to open discussions and conduct debates, encourage multiple viewpoints and push children to express their opinions and defend their perceptions. It will make them more confident and building confidence will ensure the success of that child in the future. In debates, it’s necessary to highlight diversity, to make children understand that there are many differences between people, differences in lifestyle, opinions, and social behavior. Teachers have to help students see their own abilities to be socially smart despite their young age.
In the context of building confidence, teachers should ask open questions and let children answer with their thoughts, of course with ensuring the full attention of the room. Every person wants to be heard and many people have a public speaking anxiety, instructors have to make sure children have the ability to share their thoughts and speak out loud. This confidence has to be ensured in dealing with the pupils’ work; a teacher has to allow pupils to show off their works, to motivate them and encourage them to do more.
The last point I want to tackle is the importance of establishing a reward system, of course, the rewards will depend on the students, praising and rewarding successful students will motivate them and assure them that good work pays off. It will push them to work more and try more, especially when teachers shape their educational goals and work with them to attain them. Parents have to be involved in the process of shaping the goals for students, parents should work with teachers and students to make the objectives and goals students have to attain. They should work together in making the rules and shaping the responsibilities of their children.
The teaching process is a challenging adventure that requires paying attention to many details on the one hand, and figuring out new ways to deliver information and accomplish goals on the other hand. It requires effort, motivation, and hard work.
